Dictionary says he was brought up in Ireland after his father's death in 1093. But about 1113 he returned to Dyved, waged war, picked up some territory and laid claims to more. After a successful battle in 1136 he regained many of the lands of his ancient inheritance. He remarried and was slain in 1137 through the treachery of his new wife. Dictionary doesn't give details. One and one-half pages on this man, Page 310. ******** Gruffydd (Griffith) ap Rhys, King of Wales, 1135.
"Returned from exile in Ireland to fight the Normans in 1113. Married Gwenillian, daughter of Griffith ap Cynan, King of Gwynedd, in 1116. She was killed leading her husband's army in an attack on the Norman castle at Kidwell in 1136. The spot where she fell is named Maes Gwenillian in her honor. Griffith continued the rebellion against the Normans. Their sons were Meredith, Morgan, and Rhys." [Source 1]

"O. H. Grupe, 83, retired Chief Chemist and Manufacturing Superintendent of the Speas Company Vinegar plant here, died Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at his home on Lamar Road, Paris, Rt. 2. He had been in failing health the past two years.
Funeral services, Saturday at 11 a.m., will be held in Fry and Gibbs chapel by the Rev. C. G. Forthman of First Presbyterian Church. Interment is to be made in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Grupe leaves his wife, the former Bessie Montgomery, whom he married 18 May 1903, in Battle Creek, Michigan; these children: Mrs. George C. Wall, Paris, (TX); Mrs. John B. McCormick, Kansas City, Missouri., and Dr. Harold E. Grupe, Portland, Oregon; 13 other descendants; these sisters: Mrs. Will Orpin, Dows, Iowa; Mrs. Ed Nolte, Popejoy, Iowa, and Mrs. Burr A. Stewart, and a brother, Charles O. Grupe, both of Roberts, Wisconsin.
Born in Iowa, 5 Jan 1881, son of Charles N. and Matilda (Hanssen) Grupe, Otto Henry Grupe joined the O.L. Gregory Vinegar Company at Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1910, moving to Paris plant in 1917. He remained with the company, since acquired by the Speas interests, until his retirement in 1947."
When the Otto and Bessie Grupe family moved from Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Paris,Texas, in 1915-17, there four (4) children in the family.

Grupe and the late Mr. Grupe here, was born in Siloam Springs, Ark., 29 Jun 1910, the family moving to Paris when he was seven years old. Graduating from Paris High School in 1927, he took pre-dental work at Paris Junior College, graduating from Baylor University Dental College in 1931. He was a member there of Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity and belonged to various dental societies, being a diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology and fellow of the American College of Dentistry. He gave scientific presentations at dental congresses in Rome, Paris, France ans Spaind, also the Armed Forces Dental Conference, and another in Los Angleles, between 1956 and 1967. He practiced in Sudan and Amarillo (TX) before entering the armed forces in 1952 as a Lieutenant Colonel, serving as Periodontologist at Camp Chaffee, Ark., Kaiserslauten, Germany, and Ft. Dix, NJ. He joined the faculty of the University of Oregon Dental School in 1959, and became the Head of the Department of Periodontology the following year. His death occurred while on a fishing trip during a dental convention he was attending in Junneau, Alaska. Besides his mother, Dr. Grupe leaves his wife, the former Lois Williams of Dalhart; two children: Dr. Harold E. Grupe, Jr., Rochester, NY, and Mrs Bernhard Steber, Aachan, Germany; six grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. John B. McCormick, Prairie Village, KS."

'George C. Wall, 63 member of a longtime Paris family of reaturant and cafe men, died Saturday in the Veterans Hospital at Bonham (TX). He had served for a time in the Navy during World War II, but received a medical discharge. He was born in Paris, 23 Oct 1902, son of the late Manson S. and Amy Cabaniss Wall, and was a graduate of Paris High School and attended Paris Commercial College. He was a longtime operator of Wall's Cafe at the southeast corner of Clarksville and 1st SE, having sold it some years ago because of ill health. He was in the cafe business here from 1920 to 1950 and formerly lived at 936 E. Booth St. He was stationed at Camp Bradford, VA, during his Navy service. He had been a Deacon of First Presbyterian Church, member of the Knights of Pythias and Masonic Lodges and of the Chamber of Commerce. He married the former Miss Leona Grupe, 28 Jul 1922, her death occurring this year on Jul 13. Survivors include his two children, George C. Wall, Jr., Tyler (TX), and Mrs. James (Carolyn) Stuteville, Richardson (TX); four grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mrs. O.H. Grupe, Paris; a brother, Manson Wall, Ft. Worth (TX); and a niece and nephew. Funeral Service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Fry and Gibbs Chapel, conducted by the C.G. Forthman, pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Grupe home, 3825 Lamar Road.'

"O. H. Grupe, 83, retired Chief Chemist and Manufacturing Superintendent of the Speas Company Vinegar plant here, died Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at his home on Lamar Road, Paris, Rt. 2. He had been in failing health the past two years.
Funeral services, Saturday at 11 a.m., will be held in Fry and Gibbs chapel by the Rev. C. G. Forthman of First Presbyterian Church. Interment is to be made in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Grupe leaves his wife, the former Bessie Montgomery, whom he married 18 May 1903, in Battle Creek, Michigan; these children: Mrs. George C. Wall, Paris, (TX); Mrs. John B. McCormick, Kansas City, Missouri., and Dr. Harold E. Grupe, Portland, Oregon; 13 other descendants; these sisters: Mrs. Will Orpin, Dows, Iowa; Mrs. Ed Nolte, Popejoy, Iowa, and Mrs. Burr A. Born in Iowa, 5 Jan 1881, son of Charles N. and Matilda (Hanssen) Grupe, Otto Henry Grupe joined the O.L. Gregory Vinegar Company at Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1910, moving to Paris plant in 1917. He remained with the company, since acquired by the Speas interests, until his retirement in 1947."

Mrs. Grupe was born Sept. 1, 1888, in Popejoy, Iowa, a daughter of Allan Lee Montgomery and Cora Belle Stewart Montgomery. She attended Iowa schools and taught school and worked in the post office at Popejoy. She married O. H. Grupe on May 18, 1902. He died in April 1964. She was a member of the Episcopal church in Iowa and a member of the Needlecraft Club.
She and her husband moved to Paris in 1917, where he was associated with Speas Vinegar.
Surviving are a daughter, Florence Grupe McCormick of Prairie Village, KS.; four grandchildren, George C. Wall, Jr. of Tyler, (TX), Carolyn Wall Stuteville of Malakoff, (TX), Carol Ann Grupe Steber of Aachen, Germany, and Dr. Harold E. Grupe Jr. of Jacksonville, MS.; 12 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leona Grupe Wall and two sons, Dr. Harold E. Moved to Siloam Springs, IA, in January, 1907, with her husband Otto and one daughter Leona, her father and mother, Allen Lee and Cora Belle Montgomery. She was 5-6 months pregnant at the time of their move.
In 1910, she and husband Otto and two daughters were living in Hico, Benton County, AR (and quite possibly as early as 1908 - see Allen Lee's letters). Two sons would be born while in Hico, in 1910 and 1912.
When the Otto and Bessie Grupe family moved from Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Paris,Texas, in 1915-17, there four (4) children in the family.

'SERVICES FOR GRUPE SET. Dentist Dies of Explosion Burns. DALLAS, Texas (AP) - Dr. Donald M. Grupe, 26 Dallas dentist, died here Sunday from burns received Friday as he was working in his labratory. Saturday night he was reported improved, but a replapse set in and he died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services were held here Monday and the body will be sent to Paris, Tex., where additional services will be held. Dr. Grupe, a native of Arkansas was graduated from Baylor Dental College here in 1936. Survivors include his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Grupe of Paris; two sisters, Mrs. George C. Wall, Paris. and Mrs R.B. Moore, Kansas City, and a brother, Dr. H.C. Grupe of Sudan, Lamb County. The services here for Dr. Grupe were arranged for 5 o'clock Monday afternoon at Manton-Fry funeral home, conducted by the Rev. E.G. Beckman, Minister of First Presbyterian Church, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Paris. Marvin Carson, Charles Geron, Dr. W.P. Dickson, Dr. A.L. Jones, J.M. Commissioned Lieutenant - - He was a Secretary-treasurer of the Oak Cliff Dental Society and a life member of Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity. Commissioned a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve Corps, he had just received appointment to attend the annual summer training camp this year. He was married April 25, 1938, to Miss Mildred Caldwell of Dallas.'
