He was pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Geneva, Kane
County, Illinois. In April 1857, they removed to Kansas with the wife's
brothers, the Danfords, and organized the Mound City Town Company, where
they took up their residence. He served two years as a county judge. In
1859, he was installed as pastor of a Baptist Church. In 1871, he removed
to Fort Scott in Kansas.
