John Alexander Young, 81, died at his home southwest of here at 3 o'clock, Saturday, April 1 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Tuesday at the homewith Rev. J.E. Sibert, officiating.
Mrs Adolph Hohnson sang "What A Friebnd We Have In Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" with her daughter, Mrs. Everette Carpenter accompanist.
The Casket bearers were Ralph Culver, Rollo Phillippi, Marshall Carpenter, James Huff, Archie Schrodt and James Ring. The flower girls were wives of the casket bearers. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
John A. Young, son of Charles and Mary Jane Spear Young, was born September 29, 1862 in Ellisville township where he resided all his life. He was married to Nellie Marston, Jan 18, 1893, to this union were forn three sons, Arlington, Leigh and Loise. He leaves to mourn his going, his beloved wife, tthree sons, two daughter-in-laws, Rubie and Verna, one grand-daughter-in-law, whom he loved as his own.
Five grand-children, Leverne, Shirley, Joan, Eugene, and Judith, also two great grand-children, Carol and Sheryl Lee. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins. His father, mother and four brothers preceded him in death.
He was a kind loving husband and father. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by his childred, grand-children and great grand-children.
They celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary Jan 18, 1943, altho he was quite feeble at the time, but enjoyed the day visiting with his family, friends, and neighbors and never failed to give welcome smile to everyone.

Known as Leigh E. Young. Born and raised in Ellisville Tounship, Fulton Co., ILL. until 1926, when he and his wife, the former Rubie Elliott, moved to Abingdon, IL. In 1955 they moved to London Mills, IL. Celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July 1968
(Taken from Obituary) His parents John and Nellie Marston Young preceded him in death and also a brother Arlington. Surviving are his wife, Rubie and a son, LaVerne Young of London Mills. Four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren and a brother Loise Young of Avon, IL.
He is a member of the U. B. Church.
Funeral services were held June 25th at the Matthew Memorial United Methodist Church in London, Mills.
The Reverend Lyle Leverton officiated, assisted by Reverend Milton Connett. Vocalist Mrs. Stanley Davis, was accompanied by Mrs. Lyle Leverton, Jr.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Jim Young of Ruarl Oneida, Roger Tinder of Boonesville, MO., Larry Cecil of London Mills, and Phillip Leverton of Macomb and Nephews Gene Young of Avon and Russell Shover of London Mills. Burial was at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg, IL
Visitation was at the Corman Memorial Home at London Mills.

'DEATH OF E.S. MARSTON --Edgar Sewel Marston, son of Hiram and Elizabeth Marston was born in Mendota, IL Nov. 28, 1864. He was united in marriage to Margret Reed, Feb. 5, 1905. Departed this life May 28, 1910, at his home in London Mills, ILL. He leaves to mourn their loss his faithful wife, one step-daughter, Mrs. Ella Boden, a father, mother, one sister, Mrs. Nellie Young, and three nephews with a host of friends. He was an honorable member of the K. of P. Lodge of London Mills No. 334. The members of which kindly cared for him through his recent illness.
Mr. Marston was loved and respected by those who knew hiom. He was an employee for nine years as a station agent at London Mills, for the Fulton County Narrow Gauge R.R. Co., rendering satisfaction to the company and public. He was engaged for two years as baggage man and express agent of the main lines of the C.B.& Q. R.R. Co., which position he resigned, because of failing health. He came to London Mills engaging in business for himself. Feeling his lifes work was done he became perfectly resigned to his lot trusting in the Lord. His faithful wife, step-daughter, father, mother, sister and nephews, have the sympathy of the entire community in this sad hour of their bereavement.
Brothers of the K. of P. Lodge, he will sit no more with you in council defending the just and righteous acts of men. With knightly honors you will lay his body to rest, burying with him the arcanum of his life.
The funeral was preached from the M. E. Church, Monday at 2 p. m. by Rev. Hiram Essex assisted by Rev. J.V. Clark of the Christian Church.
The K. of P. lodge formed a procession at the home leading the procession to the Church. Six of the members acted as pallbearers. The Knights took part in the burial services at the cemetery, the interment being made at Midway.
The singing was in chgarge of Mrs. W.t. V. D. Voorhees assisted by Miss Fannie Swigert, D. K. Vose and Wayne Wilkin, Miss Leona Sherman presided at the organ. The singing was splendid and the floral offering was very profuse indeed.'

Mrs. Georgia Perham passed away at Aurora on Friday (February 12, 1937). Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Healy Chapel, Aurora, conducted by Dr. J. M. Lewis, of Sandwich. The burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Georgia A. Perham, daughter of Sewell and Elmira Marston was born April 22, 1853 at North Pownal, ME. On account of the death of her father she went to Mendota to her grandparents at the age of ten years. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Charles Gould Perham who died in 1905.
To this union were born two children, Charles G., who was killed in 1915 and Mrs. Mary E. Klotz who survives her. She also leaves a granddaughter, Mrs. Martin Olson, three great grandchildren of Chicago, and a half brother, Henry Coombs of Augusta, ME.
Soon after Mrs. Perham's marriage, the family moved to Hastings, NE. Here she united with the Baptist Church and was a faithful member. Later they moved to Sandwich, IL, where they resided until about 13 years ago. Then they moved to Aurora where they have since resided. She was loved by all for her cheerful and loving disposition.

Renard Ray Rollins, 70, Danforth, a former Dana and Rutland area resident, died suddenly of a heart attack last Friday.
Burial was made with full military rites at the Rutland cemetery, Monday afternoon. A military funeral was held at the Raleigh funeral home at Piper City at 1:30 p. m., Monday.
Mr. Rollins was born at Rockford, Oct 30, 1899. He married Verna Marston of Rutland at Rockford in 1935.

Mr. and Mrs. Rollins resided at Danforth the past 13 years. He was a member of the Methodist church and a veteran of WW I.

Patriarch of the Hampton, NH branch, was born in England (tradition says in Yorkshire Co.) about A.D. 1592, and came to Salem, Massachusetts in 1634 with his family and probably two brothers, Robert & John, and resided there about three years, receiving a grant of land in 1636. (His brother-in-law was John Marston, Sr. -- married to Alice (?) and Thomas -- B. 1585 who was married to Margarat Saulter (Salter) according to the Marston Geneology.
He was a Quaker, and he suffered religious persecution both in England and in Hampton. He did NOT come from Yorkshire as thought by "The Marston Genealogy," by Nathan Washington Marston (1888) pgs. 6-8.
He resided in Salem, Essex, Mass. about three years, receiving a grant of land in 1636 from the General Court of Massachusetts, but soon after went to Newbury, for a short time; Thence, in October 1638, to Winnecumet, where he with 55 others settled on lands granted them by the General Court of Massachusetts and they called the place Hampton (Norfold Co.), after the English home of part of the settlers, and by this name it was incorporated. It is quite probable that his first wife lived until 1660. Then about 1662, when about seventy years old, he married a second time to Sabrina Page, aged 18 or 20, daughter of Robert and Lucia Page, of Ormesby, (Yarmouth) Norfold Co., England., by whom he had one daughter Tryphena.

He was a kind hearted, benevelant, and godly man, and a member of the Quaker or Friends Church and suffered persecutions for his religious tenets. He often harbored and aided his distressed and persecuted brethren, for which Christian deeds he was robbed by exorbitant fines by the zealous and bigoted courts.
In Felt's:' Annals of New England' - I find this record:
"October 14, 1657 William Marston Petitioned the court of Hampton, that the fine of #15 may be remitted that had been imposed on him for keeping a paper and two books which inculcated Quaker doctrines."
He died in Hampton -- June 30, 1672 aged about 80 yrs. There were 5 children by the records.

--Very little else is known about William Marston, Sr., other than that himself and his sons were mariners. He passed the remainder of his life in the vicinity of Hampton and died on the 30th day of June, 1672 at about the age of eighty years.--
Court records of Salem (Massachussetts Colony) disclose that on October 28th, 1643, John Marston, brother and Thomas Marston, nephew were appointed Administrators of Estate of Robert Marston (brother of William Marston, Sr.) whose heirs reside in England.

Dow gives Sabina's name as PAGE, and claims that she was the daughter of Deacon Robert and Lucy (WARDE) PAGE. According to "Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire," (GDMNH), a 'traditional' theory is that her surname was HEMINS. The compilers of GDMNH suggest that she was the wife of a Nathaniel LOCKE, a different person from the other Nathaniel LOCKE's herein, and one for whom no contemporary evidence has been found. He (Nathaniel) supposedly died soon after he and his wife arrived in Hampton in 1660. The Marstons have been numerous in Hampton, and prominent in both civil and military affairs. William (1) was there in 1640, within two years of the first settlement. He brought with him from England his two sons Thomas and William. Thomas (1615-90) settled opposite the northeast corner of the Meetinghouse Green. This lot has remained in the family, being owned in 1892 by Jeremiah Marston. He married Mary, daughter of William Eastow. Their son Ephraim (1655-1742) married Abial, daughter of John Sanborn, who was a grandson of Rev. Stephen Bachiler, the founder of Hampton. This Ephraim was a brewer.

William Stenchfield Marsotn, (7), was a school teacher and went to Kentucky to teach in the hill countries, returned to Maine, was married to Evelyn Thurston, and then moved to Minnesota where he purchased a farm and was also a mechanic. The Indians caused him to turn soldier and he organized the Wrenville Rangers and was Captain of that organization. Later served in the Civil War in the First Minnesota Cavalry, was wounded by Indians during an engagement in the southern part of Dakota. This would later cause his death. The death of his wife, Evelyn, broke up their old home near Mankoto, and he moved east to live with his daughter Dora Hayes at Oak Orchard, Maine.

5th Generation - Thomas Thurston, son of Abner and Martha (Piper) Thurston of Exeter, N.H., born there Jan 19, 1752, married Lucy Fenderson Apr 7, 1775, d. 1830. Lucy (Fenderson) Thurston was born Dec 17, 1751 and died1832. Thomas built a little house on what is called the "Ash Swamp Road" about two miles from Dunston Corner, in which his wife lived while he was in the Revolutionary War.

Married Jacob Berg, (son of John Berg, born near Badon, Germany), was born at Ashroda, Germany, May 18, 1835, died January 25, _____, at Harve De Grace, Maryland, was buried in the family plot in cemetery Mentor, Minnesota. He emigrated from Germany when 15 years old, accompanied by his sister, Elizabeth Berg, 30 years old, settling at Sandusky, Ohio, where they had an uncle who owned the Sandusky Brewery. Later on he went to Fort Snelling, Minnesota and operated a stage coach line between the Hudson Bay Fur Companies store and the navigable waters of the Miss. below Lake Hennipen. The Indians killed his horses and drivers until the stage coach line was put out of business. From there he went to the Black Hills on a gold hunting expedition which was not much more of a success than the stage coach line, as the Indians of the Black Hills soon drove out all the miners and not may were able to get out of the Bad Lands, as the Indians killed all they found. Later he served in the Indian Campaigns of the Dakotas fighting the Sioux under General Sibley. This march over the plains covered fifteen hundred miles and several engagements. Helped to capture Fort Morgan at the entrace of Mobile Bay, Alabama.
Was in the battle of Chicamagua and Chattanooga as well as others in the South. On his return at the end of the war, be bought a farm at Owatonna, Minnesota and married Catherine Marston June 13 (or 19), 1868
In 1881 he sold his property near Owatonna and moved to Mentor, Minnesota which at that time was a frontier, with few settlers and there was more pioneer work. He built a house on his land on the bank of Shadow Lake and also took up a homestead. The nearest railroad was at Crookston, 25 miles distant.
Other members of the family, Cyrus, William and Howard Marston came and took up land under the Homestead, Preeoptions and Tree Claims.
Catherine is buried in the family plot in cemetery at Mentor, Minn. was married to Jacob Berg at Mankato, Minn. During her girlhood days she taught public school among the early pioneers in Watenwan County, Minnesota, amist great privation and dangers. The schoolhouses were either built of sod or logs and roofed with sod, the windows being oiled paper. Continual warfare was being carried on by the Sioux Indians who tried to prevent the white man from settling on their hunting grounds. Just prior to the massacre of the settlers in Watenwan County, the Indians burned down her school house, she and her pupils escaping in time to hide in the cottonwood thickets along the river bottom. A rescue party was sent out from Mankato, under the command of her father, Captain William S. Marston, of the Wrenville Rangers. In this party was Jacob Berg, whom she afterwords married. They were all rescued, but later on some of the children were killed by the Indians during the massacre.

Charles 'Martel', Mayor Of The Palace Of Austrasia ruled the Merovingian F

on of Pepin II (?) of Heristal and Aupais (?). Charles was ruler of the Fr

e' of Austrasia and real ruler of all the Frankish kingdom. He earned h

e, then drove the Saracens out of Burgundy and Languedoc (737). When he di
ed in 741 he left the Frankish kingdom to be divided between his sons Carl
