General Notes: Child - Natale Nat Manzo
Natale P. Manzo, a native of Millinocket, passed away at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, Massachusetts, early Friday, December 13th, following a long illness. The husband of Claire C. (Miron) Manzo for the past forty years, he was eighty-one.
Mr. Manzo, known to family and friends as ?Nat?, was one of fifteen children born to Eugene and Mary (Moscone) Manzo. He was educated in Millinocket schools and worked for the Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket. After serving in the Army during World War II, he took up residence in Melrose, Massachusetts for a short period of time.
He was employed first by the Eastern Massachusetts Transit Company as a bus driver, and then by the MBTA as a carman. He retired about fifteen years ago after having worked for the transit company for over forty years. He had made his home in Woburn, Massachusetts since 1962. Mr. Manzo was a longtime member of the Carmen's Union Local 589.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Antoinette Lowell, Barbara Hale, and Esther Porter, and three brothers, John, Carl, and Johnny Manzo.
Surviving in addition to his wife Claire are his daughter, Paula C. Manzo of Woburn, two stepsons, Michael A. Oskar of Woburn and Mark P. Oskar and his wife Susan of Wilmington, MA, his siblings, Raffalina ?Effie? Forshner of Natick, MA, Carmen Doe and her husband John of Medway, ME, Paul Manzo and his wife Virginia ?Ginger? of Lynn, MA, Eugene Manzo, Jr. and his wife Margaret, Joseph Manzo, Angelo Manzo and his wife Mary Elaine, Frederick Manzo and his wife Cathy, and Robert Manzo and his wife Carol, all of Millinocket.
He was the beloved grandfather of Alison Leonard of Woburn, and he also leaves four stepgrandsons, Mark, Jonathan, Colin, and Sean Oskar.

NOTE: After birth of Christopher, child #3, family moved to adjoining hamlet of Rigsby, 2 miles west of Alford. Rigsby Church is now a chapel attached to Alford. The registers were transferred to the custody of the incumbent of Alford, but
all records before 1686 were reported lost. Those preserved, were of no value for purpose of investigation. While reviewing Alford volumes, 2 leaves of parchment proved to be portions of the early Rigsby registers covering time from 18 Jan
1617-16 Sep 1621. The last burial recorded was that of Christopher, infant son of William Wentworth & Susannah Carter. This explains the disappearance of the Wentworth name from Alford registers aft 1620. ("English Origins of New England

this William, the eldest son of Christopher Wentworth and Catherine Marbury.
The first mention of him in the Alford register is in the record of his marriage, which took place 28 November 1614. The name of his wife is given as Susanna Fleming. She was, however, a widow; and an examination of the register, confirmed by
Wills, reveals the following facts: her maiden name was Carter, and she was the daughter o;f Edward Carter, of Well, a small village two miles southwest of Alford. On the 1st of July 1613, she was married at Alford to Uther Fleming, son of
Robert Fleming, of Alford, and his wife Jane. This Robert Fleming, who died in 1599, calls himself, in his Will, a shoemaker. Uther Fleming lived little more than six months after his marriage, as he was buried at Alford 22 January 1613-14;
and on the 29 May following, their only child, a poshumous daughter named Anne, was baptized. This child was buried at Alford in 1619. Six months later the young widow married William Wentworth.
According to the Alford registers their eldest child was baptized on the 15th of March 1615-16, and was named William. On the 18th of January 1617-18, another son was baptized, named Edward. A third son was baptized at Alford, 4 June 1620, and
was named Christopher.
After this last date the ame of Wentworth disappears entirely from the Alford register; and it is evident that the family removed shortly after to the adjoining hamlet of Rigsby, two miles west from Alford, for in the Rigsby register occurs
the burial of the third son, christopher, under the date of 18 May 1621.

The Alford parish registers show that a William Wentworth was living there certainly from 1614 to 1620, and those of Rigsby that he was of that parish in the following year; and the object is now to show that he was identical with
