General Notes: Husband - George H. Hill

"Jacob Johnson of Harpswell, Maine, and His Descendants", by Rev. Charles Nelson Sinnett, 1907. Calls him "George Hill".

The LDS IGI has the following marriage extracted from public records:
George H. Hill & Addie A. Curit, 17 FEB 1881, Cumberland, Cumberland Co., Maine.

The Hill family was a large one on Chebeague Island. I have so far been unable to find any information or census references for a George Hill, born about 1856, living there. The LDS IGI has an extracted birth record for him, but the parents are not identified.

General Notes: Wife - Pamela Ross

"Stone Sloops of Chebeague" (1949), chart pp.100 &132, identify her as wife of William Jackson Curit. He is the only husband listed for her. The chart on p. 106 states that Andrew Jackson Hamilton married Pamela Ross, but does not give her parents. This is only speculation, but perhaps W.J. Curit died, then Pamela married A.J. Hamilton. The fact that Pamela's mother is listed in A.J. Hamilton's household in the 1860 census is strong evidence for the marriage of A.J. Hamilton to Pamela. However, in that same 1860 census, Pamela is not listed. Instead there is a 26 year old Cornelia. The only explaination that I can think of for this is that Pamela must have died prior to 1860 and A.J. Hamilton had remarried by then.

General Notes: Child - William J. Curit Hamilton

His paternity is educated speculation. He is listed in the household of Andrew Jackson Hamilton as "Wm. J. Hamilton, age 6". See notes on A.J. Hamilton and on Pamela Ross for more details on the situation. I have chosen to show him as W.J. Curit's son based on those notes and also on the hunch that he is William Jackson Curit's namesake, thus probably his son. The reason for his census listing as Hamilton could be that his stepfather adopted him after he married Pamela.
